This post will cover benefits of RMS Beauty “Un” Cover Up and potential drawbacks based on your skin type and daily routine. Although I highly recommend this product, it isn’t for everyone.
RMS stands for Rose Marie Swift. Swift started RMS Beauty after she linked the ingredients in beauty products she used in the past to health issues. After several lab results came back positive for ingredients in her beauty products, Swift set out to find a solution for herself and others like her.
RMS Beauty has a commitment to pure ingredients and is a blue beauty brand, meaning the products are recyclable, ocean-friendly, and reef safe. The brand is listed on the Beauty Heroes website, a clean beauty database started by Jeannie Jarnot, the founder of the blue beauty movement.
RMS Beauty “Un“ Cover Up is a light-weight concealer with USDA-certified organic ingredients designed to nourish the skin. The product provides a natural finish and is ideal for a no-makeup makeup look. The coverage is buildable, but this product isn’t designed to “color correct” deeper blemishes or heavily conceal areas.
I tried “Un” Cover Up from RMS Beauty after I learned the concealer doubles as a skin care product. I wanted a concealer that could moisturize my combination skin and was also inspired by the brand’s commitment to transparency. It seemed too good a product to pass up, especially after reading about Swift’s drastic health transformation.
I’ve been testing out the product for approximately 10 months as of October 2021. The product lasts 12 months, and I plan to see the product through to the end. A little goes a long way and I think it was well worth the price.
The product is extremely easy to use.
The concealer comes in a small “pot” and you can use your fingers to apply it. All you need to do is warm up the product with your fingers, tap the product into the skin, and blend it evenly.
If you prefer to use brushes there is a Skin2Skin Foundation Brush designed for RMS products that you can try.
The concealer adjusts to your skin tone so it’s perfect if you tan easily. Although the adjustment is nice, there is a limit to how far the product can adjust to your skin tone. If your tone changes by a few shades, you will likely need to buy another shade of concealer. You can see the complete line of shades here.
RMS Beauty is a well-known brand in the clean beauty industry and the concealer receives a green score of 2 on the EWG. The product received a 2 out of 10 is because it contains sunscreen grade titanium dioxide, natural mineral-derived iron oxides, rosemary extract, and castor seed oil.
RMS Concealer Ingredient List:
If you need a makeup product that doubles as a skin care product, this is the perfect for you. The “Un” Cover Up is designed for anyone who wants a natural look. Because the product is a multitasking formula that moisturizes the skin and offers light coverage it’s ideal for evening your skin tone. The organic ingredients also show the brand’s commitment to pure ingredients.
RMS Beauty is not certified organic but it does contain USDA organic ingredients. Here’s why…
According to the brand “the USDA seal isn’t applicable for color cosmetics. Color minerals used in color cosmetics can not be certified organic because they are not grown.”
Clean beauty is not regulated and brands take different approaches to defining terms such as organic, clean, and green. Although RMS Beauty uses USDA-certified ingredients, the brand is waiting to pursue an organic certification.
“…we decided to wait until organic certification has been made applicable to color cosmetic products and standardized across the board before we proceed with it. We also must have a certifier that we feel establishes a very high standard of organic certification that truly rewards for quality like that which we have put into rms beauty products.”RMs BEAUTY
The American Academy of Dermatology Association recommends that those with oily skin steer clear of oil-based products. The AADA also recommends oil-free, water-based makeup for oily skin.
RMS concealer contains coconut oil, and there are numerous benefits to coconut oil, but only if oil works for your skin type. If you are struggling with your skin, I recommend reviewing the full article here before purchasing this product: 10-Do’s and Don’ts From Dermatologists.
You can use the setting “un” powder from RMS, but it’s best to consult a dermatologist if you have skin concerns.
RMS Beauty has an entire article devoted to the benefits of coconut oil for skin and the brand uses the ingredient because of these benefits. If you’re skeptical about bias from a brand-sourced article, there are other sources that also recommend coconut oil for skin such as Healthline’s article here. There are also other products you can try designed for oily skin.
I have combination skin and I love this concealer, but if you struggle with your skin, it’s always best to consult a professional for an assessment.
I’ve been using this product for almost a year, and I’ve learned that you need to let your skin care products absorb completely before you apply this concealer. Here’s why…
I’ve discovered that if I apply concealer too soon, it doesn’t mix well with eye cream. If you try this product, please remember to let your skin care products absorb all the way, otherwise it could congeal underneath the concealer.
There are two eye creams in this world that I love right now: Beauty by Earth’s Coffee Bean Eye Cream and the Coffee Bean Caffeine Eye Cream by 100% Pure. The 100% Pure Eye Cream is perfect for fall because it smells like sugar cookies.
This product can improve your morning routine because it’s an easy go-to on busy days. It’s a light-weight, travel-ready product that can conceal and moisturize the skin. This is ideal if you have a five minute makeup routine and need something quick and easy. It’s not easy to find such a low-maintenance, long-lasting product that is actually effective.
I personally love the product and will purchase it again. I think RMS Beauty is completely worth the price, but I don’t think this product is for everyone. If you are sensitive to coconut oil I would recommend looking into other options.
Everyone has different priorities when it comes to clean beauty. Some prefer green, organic, or oil-free products. Some value recycling programs and sustainable packaging over the cleanliness of the formula, so I want to make sure you have the information you need so you can decide what works for you.
I think this product is fantastic for travelers because it comes in a very small pot. You might be surprised how small the product is, but there is a lot of formula inside.

As far as other favorite products, I love the Living Luminizer. You’ll see from that even in an informal iphone selfie, the glow is blinding. You can dab a small amount of this product on and it will give you a natural glow.
